121,141 New 2014 X-Mods From Compline – 12-02-13

2014 X-MODS

We are pleased to report we have updated 121,141 risks with 2014 X-Mod data. Most risks though the 1st quarter have been completed.

Our Integrated Comparative Premium Rating is a Big Hit

Released just about 6 weeks ago we have seen incredible usage in our rating feature. It’s easy to use – just look up the risk you want to rate and click on the folder and all the data you need to rate 288 carriers will appear automatically. Just add the date (including 1-1) and the payrolls and calculate nearly 300 carriers in less than 10 seconds.
Save them and as new rates are release it’s just one button to see where you are in your deal.

There are complete how to use it guides in the Quickcourse section. Our Help Desk is always here to answer any questions – let me know how I can help too!

Compline: 2 Major Announcements – 9-26-13

Hi Everyone:

Today I am very excited to announce two major new features for you Compline members. These will make your work faster and easier and is a major expansion of features. There are links to preview videos both in the Quickcourses section of Compline and at the bottom of this email for non-members.
Coming directly to the point: next week Compline members are getting:

  • Integrated Comparative Rating &
  • Compline Healthy Account System

Integrated Comparative Rating joins the Workers’ Comp Utilities in the integration of Compline data across all of the feature sets. It works like the utilities and all of the data is safely and easily integrated into rating.

In fact, the only thing you need to rate nearly 300 companies in less than 6 seconds is to look up the risk in Compline click rate and add the effective date and payroll amounts.

The system is smart enough to include all classes, to pick the correct rate filing, and even to allow you to use multiple territories for any given risk thereby getting you a more accurate pricing indication. It does much more than anyone else and of you give a target premium it will tell you the deviations necessary for each carrier. It even rates all 3 SCIF tiers accurately.

The Compline Healthy Account System is designed to make all the information you have in Compline about your clients and prospects accessible with one simple lookup. It is intuitive and simple to use.

It works the way insurance people work using a folder and tab paradigm and allows you to move simply between the Riskscreen, the WCU X-Mod Calculator, and Integrated Rating. It even provides more information than you’ve ever had before. So when you look up a risk (and you’ve used either the WCU or Integrated Rating for the accounts) it will provide at a glance on the tab data about what years you’ve calculated an X-Mod, when you last rated the specific risk and the total payroll for the risk.
Here are your links:
Dale’s Overview and demo of both new features (12 minutes)
Video of using both systems overview (6 minutes – included above)
As always we are here to serve and learn – your suggestions and perspective are welcome and encouraged.

Compline: FREE Feature Upgrade – 7-29-13

www2.compline.com

Hello Everyone:

I am happy and proud to announce today the first of three major Compline feature announcements. This is the smallest of the three – and it is a FREE Feature Upgrade for you.

Compline has added to its database several hundreds of thousand more – actually new – risks and associated data. These risks have not been in the database previously and represent most of the businesses in California. They are and have NOT been previously eligible for experience rating. When you see them online, they carry an “I” for “Ineligible” rather than a numerical X-Mod.

Over 1.6 Million new risknames were added as part of this new feature upgrade.

The bar graphic will show the unity X-Mod of 100. Small risks can be mapped for a satellite photo view of their location like all other risks. All other functions apply.

As or if they become eligible for experience rating they will receive an X-Mod.

The data transfer facility between Compline and Workers’ Comp Utilities works the same way it does for all large risks, as do all of our print and presentation print facilities.

This feature is available now.

This addition will assist the community in identifying small risks. Compline continues to maintain risks which formerly had an X-Mod but which no longer qualify. The addition is risks, which have never had an X-Mod before. The Compline database retains data back beyond 1976.

Let us know what you think and how this can help you. Our helpdesk is always here to assist you: Helpdesk@Compline.com

Compline Update News – 6-5-13

Hi Everyone:
There is news today about newly released updates; the free CE credit webcast and more so read the whole thing…
We have released a few updates over the last few weeks:
· Contributing points for each claim now shows in the WCU reports
· We corrected the alignment of values
· We corrected the footers and removed the extra page that was printing in the WCU Presentation print
· At the request of a couple of Members we changed some phrasing to be more meaningful for clients
· We released this week and then withdrew a new Rol-o-dex page. Some users were having this weird issue in lookup; we tried to fix it the first day and rolled back to the old page at noon on the 2nd day. The issue has now been identified and we are giving it a little extra QA testing before we release it again.
· We THINK we have resolved the issues with the Internet Explorer browser. If you are having issues please call the helpdesk at 916-774-4000.
· TOOLBAR: All three State Fund Tiers are in the Strategic Rate Comparison Tool and are working fine including all territories. … Be sure to use 3/1/2013 as the effective date to get the new rates.
I was out visiting some agencies lately (always a learning experience) and found that some agents still are using really old monitors – those with 800X600 resolution. I was frankly shocked. Browsers cost $150ish and the amount of viewable space really can impact the speed of work. Hint hint hint Almost all of our people use dual monitor setups with high resolution.
We still recommend either the FireFox (if you like our toolbar) or the Chrome browser both of which are free to download and use. MS Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 work too. We have solved almost every behavior problem with a change of browsers.
FREE WEBCAST HAS SEVERAL DATES
The long promised FREE to MEMBERS webcast on experience rating is announced and registration is open. Sign up for the live webcast on June 27th at 10 am or one of our two replays on July 10th at 10 am and 2pm. We have nearly 300 locations signed up as of yesterday evening. As many people as want to can watch. . There is 1 hour of CE credit available for this 2 hour webcast. We are not charging extra to process the credits. HOWEVER CDI Requires that you ATTEND the full first hour and that you so certify in writing which we have maintain in our files. SO after the webcast there will be a download page so you can get the form and answer three questions.

IF YOU ARE NOT A REGISTERED COMPLINE MEMBER the webcast costs $179.
Here is a link to our landing page: http://www.provpubs.com/webcasts/xmods-xplained/
More Free Upgrades Coming Shortly
Besides a rerelease of the new rol-o-dex screen – mistakes keep me humble (or does it humiliate me?), there are some cool things happening later this month and during July.

We expect a major feature release in July.

Bugs and Issues Fixed and Known

A few members reported having trouble with lookups as the result of our new Rol-o-dex screen. We pulled it back on the 2nd day and now think we have fixed the issue. It will get released shortly.
REQUEST We have had several requests to make the SRC work like the Carrier Rate Compare and only show the chosen carriers in the print. This is on our schedule.
REQUEST We acknowledge and will schedule the request to not hold the last lookup on strategic Rate Comparison. This is being scheduled.
REQUEST: We thank the agent who requested that they be allowed to insert copy into the presentation Prints and have not scheduled this request – yet.

KNOWN We are aware that some class descriptions are missing – we create our own rather than using the Bureau’s and will update when we get a chance

If you know of an issue or bug please call us or email us. We have not been getting many issue
reports so we’re glad but want to make everything work for everybody. So call us!

As always, we want your ideas and are always more than happy to listen.

Compline members get new features – 4-17-13

Hi Everyone:
There are four new features (and several bug fixes that released last Monday:
  • Contributing points now appear on the worksheet screen
  • Claims are sorted upon open
  • Status radio buttons are fabulous – use them
  • Policy period has been added and updated
  • Add policy period – so you can easily add one or more policies or policy periods within the one experience rating period
Our Help calls have decreased substantially so we know we’ve just about got it. Please call for any amount of help you need.
We recommend either the FireFox (if you like our toolbar) or the Chrome browser both of which are free to download and use. MS Internet Explorer 8, 9 and 10 work too. We have solved almost every behavior problem with a change of browsers.
TOWER INS CO of New York has apparently lost its mind. Okay insurance carriers don’t have minds but these guys filed seven bazillion separate territories including some places in California we hadn’t heard of. Since the Strategic rate Comparison doesn’t ask what territory your client or prospect is in we publish all the territories for each class.
Oy Vey did this lead to issues (they took up all the space).
So we have excluded them for now while I figure out a better way to deal with their filing. The good news (believe it or not) is that the update process we have in place is so automatic and works so well that I have no idea these things happen until one of you smart people calls us. We update rates usually within 2 days of filing.
Helpful Hints
  • ADJUST TYPE SIZE ON YOUR SCREEN: USE the CNTL /+ keys together
  • Don’t know the carrier code – start typing in the carrier name to get a pull down
  • SORTING BY STATUS? You have to use the radial button to set the status otherwise the default is unfinished
  • Be looking for the announcement of a FREE webcast to teach both experience rating and analysis and our new system. You will want to attend this one for sure.
  • Find OLD worksheets by searching whole organization
  • BE SURE TO ADD BUREAU NUMBER TO OLD WORKSHEETS
  • Be sure to check out and use the Quickcourses – they have lots of useful information about the pages you use all the time and pages you might not have tried.
  • WE have added all three State Fund Tiers to the Strategic Rate Comparison including all territories. Whew! Those government bureaucrats can certainly find ways to complicate all our lives, huh… Be sure to use 3/1/2013 as the effective date to get the new rates.
More Free Upgrades Coming Shortly
  • We are taking the week off from development of WCU to work on some other Compline things

Compline – X-Mod Calc updates new features and news – 4-10-13

Hi Everyone:
First, Thanks to all of you Members who called and emailed both either your love or your suggestions. It is for you we do this.
Second, Welcome to our new Members who waited to see what we’d deliver. We are happy to have you with us.
There are four new features coming into the WCU this coming week. We have fixed some WCU bugs and during the last week. See the “new things” and Bugs and issues sections below section below… We are generally happy with this release and have found a few bugs (of course) but overall you’re telling us you’re happy.
MOST IMPORTANTLY – Despite a diligent quality assurance process we have heard about some strange behaviors and have tracked them to the use of the various Microsoft browsers. So first let us recommend either the FireFox (if you like our toolbar) or the Chrome browser both of which are free to download and use.
Fully 1/3 of our development time was spent on trying to get the various MS browsers and environments to provide a consistent user experience. This is a widespread issue in the software industry. It is a major topic at all software industry gatherings.
We have solved almost every behavior problem with a change of browsers. For the record SCIF is having issues, according to an email it recently sent out suggesting the Chrome extension be added to Microsoft browsers, we are all in this together.
If you must stay with MS browsers please make sure your computer stays current on all operating system and browser patches. They patch all the time.
So what new things are in the next production push?
  • Add a Policy period –
  • Claims will be sorted upon open (not entry)
  • Contributing points will show on the worksheet and update live
  • Sort Payroll upon open – governing at the top
  • DONE ADDED Status radio buttons
  • DONE ADDED search worksheets for your whole organization
Helpful Hints
  • ADJUST TYPE SIZE ON YOUR SCREEN: USE the CNTL /+ keys together
  • Don’t know the carrier code – start typing in the carrier name to get a pull down
  • SORTING BY STATUS? You have to use the radial button to set the status otherwise the default is unfinished

More Free Upgrades Coming Shortly
  • WCU Contributing Points will be on the worksheet in this week’s release. Today they show on the Summary Experience Abstract
  • WCU will allow up to 16 policy periods in the next release

Compline Updates All 3 SCIF tiers + Other Good Stuff – 2/15/13

Hi Everyone:
We have fixed some bugs and upgraded various systems during the last week or so. See the “new things” section below… Did someone ask for all 3 SCIF tier and all those darn territorial rates to be added? There’s more …
I am excited to tell you the new Workers’ Comp Utilities X-Mod Calculator is getting pretty close. I’ve been testing the software and a lot of it has gone on to our Quality Assurance team. Of course, they’ll find all the stuff my ADHD self missed so that’s good for you. This is a free upgrade for all members. Better than that – it is a way way way better system than the one we have out there today! In fact, I’m darn proud of it and of our development & QA staff.
Oh and we will be announcing a FREE webcast all about experience rating and calculating and analyzing X-Mods (using our system). I’m hoping to pick some dates and start registering y’all next week. There will be some something special for members so keep an eye on your email.
I have been working on reports and graphics for the X-Mod Calculator and would love to include any requests – suggestions – ideas for reports or charts and graphs you might have. Send them to the helpdesk – the sooner the better! I personally use the FireFox browser most of the time so you can bet your sweet bippy that the new stuff will not require that old Microsoft browser.
I want to thank all of you who sent in worksheets and let you know that we will start next week with the testing and entering of them for you. We received about 500 worksheets and would welcome 500 more so if you are interested in having us enter your 2013 worksheets for you now is the time to fax them in. Once we have used them to test and entered them into your system we will destroy them.
So here’s our data call message again:
THIS IS A DATA CALL – have we got a deal for you!
In order to test our new X-Mod Calculator properly we need more 2013 worksheets, which is where you – the folks we work for – come in. We need you to send all the 2013 worksheets you’ve got. In trade – and as part of our testing – we’ll get them into your Compline system for free. It’s clean neat and easy – just know you won’t have access to them until we release the new software.

FAX YOUR 2013 X-MOD WORKSHEETS TO 916-596-2167 BE SURE TO WRITE YOUR AGENCY NAME ON THEM

  • We have fixed the Quickcourse for ‘Riskscreen Explained’ so it now works well in Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 and FireFox and Safari and on tablets and iPhones.
  • More Quickcourses are being upgraded all the time
  • We have stopped supporting Internet Explorer 7 and below. IT is free and easy to upgrade your browser, we recommend FireFox over Explorer. [We call it Microsoft Exploder in our office].
